Company History

DOWNEAST Plastics Ltd., located in Cap-Pelé, New Brunswick, was founded in 1982 after a conversation at the Boston Seafood Show that convinced Joseph P. Landry, a fish packer, that there was a market for aquaculture related polystyrene products.

Today, Downeast Plastics supplies the fishing industry and the construction industry with expanded polystyrene (EPS) rigid foam products. Also, we have a Gel-Pak line that seafood processors use to ship fresh products all over the world.

The company has grown from 5 employees in 1982 to 110 full time/seasonal workers in 1997. The company grew in more ways than one, expanding from 7500 square feet in 1982 to over 45000 square feet in 1997. With products such as:

- Insulation
- Gel-Paks
- Polystyrene packaging boxes
- Buoys
- Floating docks (custom pieces)
- Cylinders

DOWNEAST Plastics Ltd. is diversified and competitive. With our own trucks and our own fleet
of 115 trailers that we use for warehousing pre-loaded shipments (especially polystyrene
boxes), we always try to stay ahead of the game when it comes to delivery time.
